Kirkland for Keeper?

According to reports Stoke City are ready to swoop for Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

Potters boss is understood to view Kirkland as a replacement for Thomas Sorensen following a reported bid for the unsettled Dane from Manchester City.

The Daily Mail claims Latics boss Roberto Martinez is keen to offload Kirkland’s £30,000-a-week pay packet from the club’s wage bill and could grant him a free transfer.

He would arrive at the Britannia Stadium as cover for current No 1 Asmir Begovic.
