Reds Seek First Away Win at the Brit

HAVING outclassed Arsenal and demolished Bolton, a buoyant Liverpool FC face a different type of challenge tomorrow against Stoke City.

Stoke City stand between the Reds and the victory they need to make it 10 points from four games – equalling their best ever start to a Premier League campaign.

A trip to the Potteries is a test of character as well as quality and it’s an assignment that Liverpool have failed in recent years.

Last November’s timid 2-0 defeat means they are still awaiting a first league win at the Britannia Stadium.

On that occasion Roy Hodgson’s struggling side wilted under an aerial bombardment but times have changed.

Kenny Dalglish has added guts as well as talent to the squad he inherited and the manager is hoping Liverpool can pick up where they left off before the international break.

“I think everybody has produced a high standard so far - and it’s up to us to maintain those standards,” he said.

“They’ve worked really hard in training and they’ve been great professionals.

“The boys got great plaudits from the game against Bolton and deservedly so. We got our rewards with the three points.

“They’ve got to brush themselves down and now we go again. Hopefully we will play as well as we did against Bolton.

“I don’t know what we can achieve but I know what we should be trying to achieve – that’s to get ourselves right for the next game. The more focused we are on the next game coming up the better chance we have got.

“We’re happy with the squad and they’ve had the rewards for the hard work they’ve done so far. They’ll just continue to work hard and we’ll see what rewards we get in the future.”

Stoke have enjoyed an impressive start to the season themselves with five points from their opening three league games as well as progress to the group stage of the Europa League.
