The Story of Stoke City’s Transfer Window

The Story of Stoke City’s Transfer Window.

Tony Pulis has completed the defence of Stoke city by bringing in to ex/current England international defenders. Johnathon Woodgate and Matthew Upson. Buying players with quality as such as these guys would cost huge sums of money but Pulis. Amazingly both players were signed on a free from Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United! This was god like work from Tony and it has payed off at Stoke are currently undefeated in all campaigns. Including the Premier League and UEFA Europa League.

After these signings in all went quiet on the Stoke front. With rumors about several players but none legitimate, except for the story of a double signing of Wilson Palacios and Peter Crouch from Spurs. Several sources at the time said that Crouch refused to join Stoke but Wilson was interested. A few days later a big hype was occurring as a car with ‘I WPO’ showed up at the Brit. Everyone had thought that Wilson Palacios had drove to Stoke and had a medical. But sadly it was an old man.
In the last few days on the transfer window Palacios comes to Stoke, yes it was him, and has a medical. On the way out he shouts at the crowd of anxious supporters. “I have joined, and Crouch has too!” But neither club officially confirmed.
Transfer deadline day was when it all kicked back into gear with Stoke. Bendtner’s agent (his dad) had spent the night in Stoke to hold discussions with Pulis. But Bendtner wanted high wages that Pulis refused to pay so he went on to join Sunderland. Next thing we find out is that Cameron Jerome shows up at the ground and then quickly followed Peter Crouch’s dad. Both held talks with Stoke and rumours said that Jerome had signed but Crouch was doubtful. But towards the end of the day, Crouch appears and signs too. But where was Palacios? He never showed up on transfer day. But Stoke announced the Crouch and Palacios as a double transfer. Which Pulis wanted from the beginning of the transfer window.

I am pleased we have bought in quality players in the positions we needed. Great work Tony!

  1. Palacios was already done, but they were waiting on crouch, so they had some sort of smokescreen to reduce the chance of another team nicking crouch?
