Almost Soro Sorrow

Dane admits that a move to the Etihad Stadium could have happened this summer, as he seeks to find regular action having lost his place at the Britannia Stadium to Asmir Begovic

Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has admitted his frustration at the lack of first-team opportunities at the club and claims that a move to Manchester City was a possibility, but this is no longer likely.

The experienced shot-stopper lost his position as No.1 at the Britannia Stadium to Asmir Begovic last season, and he has been limited to outings in cup competitions.

The 35-year-old admits that it is still his aim to find regular football, but it is unknown whether or not this will be with the Potters.

"When you get to my age, you realise that you will have to end at some point, and that makes it all the more important to keep playing - especially when you have got the motivation and the level as well," Sorensen told Skysports.com.

"For me it is important to play, as it has been ever since I started. I have got a year contract there, so that's the situation at the moment."

Of a possible move to Manchester City, the Dane said: "There was negotiations there, but they didn't turn out to anything and I move on."

Stoke manager Tony Pulis will be fully aware of what the former Sunderland and Aston Villa goalkeeper has to offer and any decision over his future may ultimately rest with him.
