Pulis: AVB is A-OK

Reports claimed that Villas-Boas was unhappy at the way Stoke approached the game after he was quoted as saying the pushing and shoving in the match was "out of this world".

Pulis, however, has claimed those comments were taken out of context and said there is no rift between himself and the new Chelsea boss.

Pulis said: "I listened to some of the comments that he made in the press room afterwards and they have been blown out of all proportion and I mean that.

"He's actually said 'I think there was pushing and shoving in both boxes', but obviously it's only been reported there was pushing and shoving in our box and that's the press being the press, they have to do what they have to do."

Pulis has often come under fire for Stoke’s style of play since their promotion to the Premier League in 2008. However, the Welshman believes Chelsea were just as strong in the tackle as his side, and have used their physical prowess to be successful over the years.

"Chelsea are as strong and physical as we are and they don't try and hide away from that fact," he continued.

"But we are both competitive teams. They have got where they have got because they have got great players but they have also got competitive players.

"I think they've scored more goals off set-plays from their defenders than any other team in the Premier League so they don't stand still when they are scoring goals.

"People have to do what they have to do and I will stand up for this football club.

"I don't think Andre, actually listening to the interview, was being disrespectful at all, but it's been blown up and you have to respect that as a manager."
