Signal radio & Potters Partnership

Premier League side Stoke City has announced a broadcast rights agreement with Signal Radio which will see the local radio station become the club’s new official commercial commentary partner.

Under terms of the deal, Signal 1 will air all home and away matches in the coming season, in addition to working closely with the Potters on a number of community initiatives in the local area.

“We are delighted to have reached an agreement over commentary rights, which compliments our long term relationship with BBC Radio Stoke,” said Stoke City's head of commercial Andrew Billingham.

He added: “An important aspect of the club's progress over the past few years has been the increase in the number of families and young people who now follow the club. 25 per cent of season ticket holders are under the age of 21 and another 20 per cent are female. This new partnership really does support our strategic growth objectives for the future.”

Signal Radio's station director Iain Fowler said: “We're really pleased to secure this full commentary partnership. We believe this investment into sport content on Signal Radio is an important part of our audience growth strategy. The relationship with the club is much more than just a commentary rights agreement, it's a partnership. We also plan to work with the club throughout this season on a number of key initiatives.”

The station’s coverage kicks off with Stoke City’s first game against Chelsea at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday.
